Reflection
It is important that our students realize at an early age that plants can contribute to a healthy environment. We can work together to sow seeds and watch them grow as they learn about plants consumption of carbon dioxide, converting it to oxygen which we, as humans, breathe in.
- How did you choose the topic for your storybook and why did you choose that topic related to your content area?
Gardening is one of my hobbies. It was very natural for me to try to share with my students information about the benefits of plants to the environment. When I noticed the limited choice of pictures which related to gardening, I quickly thought about using multiple sceneries to bring my point across to my audience.
2. What was the process like creating your storybook? Was it difficult or easy?
It was initially very difficult to get the storybook started because I could not log in. Eventually I found out that I had to minimize the log in page so that I could complete my application. Once that was done, I found it easy to work on my story book.
3. How can you use this as a future teacher? Give specific details of how you can incorporate this into a lesson either by having your students create a storybook or by you using one in a lesson.
My aim is to work with Special Needs Students who are in pre-kindergarten to grade The fact that all students must be give an adequate education means that my Special Needs students would also deserve the right to learn about the contribution which plants make to the environment. I am not too sure that I would use this application with my students in that age group. Maybe it would be a project we could work on together as a class by using the whiteboard.
